It was nice to meet new friends and reunite with all.

Our dinner meeting turned out great on Friday. There were 22 of us in attendance.

We all gathered in the hotel bar after dinner to listen to some local music. Some of us continued on from there and enjoyed dancing and great country music at the 'Palace' with our friend Billy from Ireland. Billy's friend can hold a mean note on the saxophone.

Saturday we had some free time to explore the Opry Land area. That evening Rob and Cristi arranged a wonderful dinner for us.

Our agenda was very relaxed and that usually works the best with a large group.

Was sad to see it come to a close. Parting was difficult.:(

We took lots of pictures. Will be getting them up tomorrow hopefully.

Hope to see more of you that could not make it this time around at the 3rd annual reunion, TBA by Mr. Hank

Hank and Michelle, thank you again for creating this great place for us to unite together.

We all love you.
:)
PS. INR 4.6, ooops:mad: Have to work harder on that 'theroy' Hank.

Kay and I made it home OK. Airports were a real pain. BobG, Janie, Billy, Gina, Hank, Lorraine, Tammy, Perry, Bob Franklin, Rob and Ben and your SO's, I had a blast. I love you guys. It is late and I'm pooped. Reunion details will follow but these are all very special people to me. I hope to meet many more of you next round.

I will point out one signif event and that was Fri. night after our group meal Hank was taking INR's to see what a a few days of being festive did to our systems. Ben, a new convert to the ways of the Coumadin people also had his INR taken and with 1.0 being perfect for a non-Coumadin user, Ben nailed a 1.1. We deduced the .1 was a result of a few soda-pops he downed during the day. Lorraine and I tied for the closest to a 3.0 INR. She had a 3.1 and mine was somehow a 2.9. Go figure.

The tradition of the Cuban cigars continued as well as the general overall waiving of the two drink minimum.

It was good to be with my people.

To my new friends, Hank & Michelle, Dick & Kay, Bob G., Bob and Geri, Rob thats YOU! & Cristy, Lorraine & (sister & friend), Janie, Billy, Gina, Tammy & (oops, CRS!), Ben & (oops, another CRS!):

I had a fabulous time at the 2001 VR.com Nashville Reunion. I hope everyone had a safe, fast journey home. I continued my tradition of getting lost in the car and somehow ended up on a Tennessee backroad for about an hour, but I eventually got back on the interstate.

I appreciated meeting all of you and getting to know everyone a wee bit better. You are all truly an inspiration. Thank you and God Bless you for coming to Nashville to get together. My wife and I are already looking forward to the 2002 Reunion. Thanks again, Hank for making it all possible.

Hank, during my long drive home I made a decision not to renew my Mended Hearts membership. Their required $27.00 annual fee will go to VR.com. I love you, man!

Cheers!

Hi Perry

We were looking for you Sunday, AM for breakfast. Sorry we missed you and glad you made it home safe.

Tennessee back roads, hummmm. See anything interesting?;)

It was so nice meeting you! Greatly looking forward to the next one!

Take it easy

Perry, gotta watch those country back roads - those Southerners in the back woods are suspicious of 'strangers'. They might think you are a revenooer. Heehee

So glad to hear your shared view. Please keep them coming for those of us who are by the computer waiting to see the pix and reports.

God bless

Just wanted to give a shout out to all of you that were in Nashville. It was sooo great to meet all those there - I won't go thru the list but you know who you are. The Friday Dinner and meeting was super and Hank and Michelle were great hosts!!
Hate I missed the Saturday dinner but made it home in time for some italian food at a local place. Opryland Hotel was awesome, took some pictures of the waterfalls, etc.
Look forward to next time and meeting more and more of those who share this wonderful sight.
I love you all!!!!!!

Hello Friends,

Nashville exceeded my expectations to say the least.

The only way one could know the feeling of being with such people is to be there personally.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Nashville is a beautiful place even though it rained pretty much the whole time.

I wasn't able to beat Mr. Gleason in golf due to being rained out, but I was at least able to watch him put the 8 Ball in the prematurely more than once :D !

I will be posting much more but am at work now and need to do what they are paying me for.

To make a long story short - I love you all and thank you for being here with me.

Hi to all my new friends I met at the Nashville Reunion! Hank, Michele, Dick, Kay, Bob, Gerry, Bob G., Janie, Billy, Gina, Perry, Rob Thats Me, Cristy, Tammy, David,Ben and Cindy. You are all such great people!

I had a wonderful time. It was great sharing what we've all gone through. I enjoyed our little local entertainment we had thanks to Billy and Dick late Friday morning... or was that early afternoon? :D I lost track after that second Blood Mary.

Our meeting/Dinner on Friday was so  ! I want to Thank You Hank for takining our INR's. It was nice to see where we stood after a couple days of partying. Your speech Hank and Billy even had my friend Carol choked up right along with the rest of us.

Thoroughly enjoyed meeting people from all over our great U.S. of A. and Northern Ireland! I felt such a great bond with everyone before, and meeting all of you in person enhanced that bond.

Opryland Hotel was awesome! The waterfalls were very relaxing.
Downtown Nashville (Friday Night) was a real experience, right Hank! :D :D

I'm looking forward to the 2002 reunion, where ever that may be.

Hank and Michele: Thank You again for creating such a wonderful site that where we can come together.

I love you all!

Hank, I seem to remember the valve/graft team of Bob and Dick kicking the butts of the valve only team of Hank and Perry in pool. (and we did it in under an hour)

I guess you can blame that memory loss on your heart-lung machine.

How was dinner Sat night? Where did you guys go?

Hi Everyone,

It was wonderful to meet you all in Nashville. I sure felt like I made some close friends over the past weekend. I also think that it was special for my wife, Cristi, to meet everyone as well. Our spouses also can use some support, and networking like this sure helps to bring everyone closer.

We are looking forward to the next one in Los Wages, NV!!

So, where do I begin? First and foremost, let me say to Hank and Michelle, that without you two wonderful people.......well......I don't honestly know where I would be right now, surgery notwithstanding. But because of you and because of everyone I have met (at San Antonio and Nashville) I can at least give you some (not all) of my thoughts.......up close and personal: (and in no specific order)

* In all my life, I have never felt an experience of bonding and love like I have here. I continually am amazed at the caring we share for one another and how we all interact so wonderfully with one another. Sure we all have our personal lives and trials, but as I observe our interactions, regardless of who is interacting (I must include spouses and significant others) it seems that despite our personalities, opinions, attitudes, etc. it is all set aside and this totally new closeness develops........like we all become ONE.

* We are ALL so extremely lucky to have this forum and the opportunity to create memories that will be with each of us for the rest of our lives. Our reunions have proven that for sure!

* I truly hope that by now Hank has taken off that New York Police Department baseball cap that I gave him. (Hank.......we will have many more rounds of golf and I know the next round of golf we have together..........you'll be wearing that hat. But I will be working on getting you a new golf bag, although I doubt if it will be as multicolored as is your present bag.)

* Ben.........what can I say to you? You gave up Balcony Fun in the 80's........I feel so sad about that.......but I will keep you updated on some Gleason Balcony Fun in an attempt to get you back on track.

* Billy Me Boy! You are as open and emotional as I am and those traits (and several others) make you one exceptional human being. I would have like to have heard your confession, though........

* Gina......my "date" at the Nashville Palace. I hope your toes are okay......seems I remember missing a couple of steps. I guess it was because of the shock I was experiencing being at "The Palace", let alone dancing there. I still cannot get over the hairdo on the singer.........looked like something out of the 70's.

*Dick.......just think if I never made that eight ball shot. We would have to hear about losing to Perry and Hank for the next year or so. Thanks, again for the cigar

*Perry............you need a better navigator than me. When we play golf, I'll drive the cart. I'll give you a few extra strokes, but not as many as I would for Hank and Ben. Can you imagine Ben playing golf in those steel toed cowboy boots?

* Bob Franklin and Gerry..........I'll be taking my "pills" that you gave me for a long time to come. And, my cane and attached horn will remind me that even us older folks do get horny (occassionally)

* Janie.......One of the last things I remember was you saying how refreshing that gin and tonic was on Saturday night. (As I was having my third coke of the evening) I did miss the red boots which I believe would have fit in well in Nashville.

Hey Rob That's Me! By next year your pony tail should be in full bloom...........My last pony tail was in 1969 at Woodstock. If you can do it, maybe I can as well...........just as long as I don't have to wear jeans and boots.

Tammy..........sorry you had to leave early, but Friday afternoon will be a memorable day in the history of VR.com.........and you were there!

Lorraine............did you notice how I held your hand from the parking lot walking in the rain to the restaurant? Didn't want to lose you in a puddle. I hope your sister can eventually figure out how to get out of a car on her own so we don't have to send troops out on a recon mission looking for her. I thought she was missing in action because her smokes got wet.

* We have to work on compiling our "M-----isms" Wasn't that one of our credos upon which we ALL.....repeat....ALL agreed? I think it was Gina's idea. (Who was that lady in the lobby? And then again stalking us at the Opryland Hotel?)

* Hey Ben..........you are a big pussycat! Its a good thing that Cindy keeps you in line........ Remember NOT to call Cindy "HONEY" We all NOW know what HONEY is.....don't we?How many Coors did you have over the weekend. I was a little saddened when we first met that you had no idea who I was. Do you think by the next time we meet, you'll remember me? I'm the one entitled to "senior moments" not you. Maybe, despite what you say, you have lapses in memory because of tooooo many "Balcony Moments" Try a lower level for awhile......it'll clear your head just at the right moment.

And Rain..........although you could not get to Nashville, you most certainly were missed.......especially by the MAG 7 .......no excuses for next year.

We never got to say grace at our dinner Saturday night so I'll end with this offering:

"Dear Lord, we thank you for what you have bestowed upon us. Our hearts are filled with the love and sharing that You have provided to us, by your example and your inspiration. Bless all of us and keep us safe............TILL WE MEET AGAIN."

So Las Vegas is the pick for 2002? Sounds good to me. How was it decided? Was there much discussion?

Dick

Hank
October 15th, 2001, 12:41 PM
It was debated hour after hour. We slaved through the delicate democratic process with much deliberation and then everyone told me to decide.

Las Vegas was my decision. I'll take the glory and/or the blame, however it comers my way.

Fr. Gleason.....

Thank you for the blessing and for summing up the weekend perfectly. Yes, my toes are still on fire.

Hopefully not as bad as Marie's ears. Sorry Lorraine, could not help myself. She stole the show Saturday night as far as I am concerned.;)

Glad everyone made it home safe and sound. Can't wait until Slots Vegas.

Thanks, Bob for your words of wisdom and the dinner prayer was better late than never.

Ben and Tammy, my apologies for forgetting your spouse's names, Cindy and Dave respectively.

Bob, you definitely get to be my designated golf cart driver. I could easily get us lost on an unfamiliar course. Being lost on Tennessee backroads on a Sunday morning wasn't so bad. Bad man-thing to do, but I finally had to stop and ask where in the heck I was. The little gas station was making homemade sausage and egg biscuits. What a trip!

See ya in 2002 in Vegas and 2003 on a cruise, right? My wife is really looking foward to joining us in Vegas. Hank, how soon can you pick a date so we can reserve our timeshare?

The 8-ball stands avenged!

Hi Bob,

I really enjoyed reading your re-cap of the weekend. Hmmm,, it was kinda like a flash-back.. You know those things we get after the Woodstock days... <smile>.

Hmmmm... Somehow I can't picture you in a pony tail, but... if you decide to, I'll have to cut mine back a bit, and we can measure them to see who has the biggest one... LMAO... PONY TAI - That is!!

Ya know... That image may help out in those Balcony Fantasies!

Did you get a chance to visit the site info I sent you on aneurym narratives and support?

Vegas!
I was going to apologize for my sister on the last post but forgot! Go figure.:( :( SO I am officially apologizing now. I am sorry if anyone was offended by what she said and did. I only pretty much knew about being locked in Bob and Gerrys car before sure had a chance to put the hood up on her jacket so she wouldn't get wet. Didn't know what happened exactly at that end of the table. It was I guess more peaceful but fun down at our end. Looking forward to seeing you all!

So Perry you went on adventure. Do you get lost that often in the boonies around here?:) Would still like to get together with you and your wife to have lunch sometime.

See Hank! I'm remembering to log off now. :D

Take care!

Hi Lorraine

No apologies needed here. It's nice to know that we can let loose once in a while, right? ;). Will be the first one to admit that I was not on my usual behavior. Been awhile since I have gotton out. Had a good time too!

Was a pleasure meeting you and your sister. Hopefully the Chicago bunch can get together before next year.

Planning on coming home for Thanksgiving, not sure yet. In any case hopefully we can all meet.

Gina,

Glad you brought this up to Lorraine. CRS! Of course, I forgot we had been discussing Grandpa's in Glenview. I do remember you said you knew or were related to the previous owners? Even so, Grandpa's would be a bit quieter than the Glenview House for starters and/or dinner like on Friday or Saturday. 11/23 or 24. We could pub-crawl over to the Glenview House afterwards.

I'll look forward to it. And, this will also present an opportunity for you and Lorraine to meet to meet my wife, Kathie.

How about it Mara? Come on up to Chicago.

LUVMyBirman
October 15th, 2001, 04:53 PM
Yes, Grandpa's. The previous owners are good friends of the family. Have not been since they changed ownership...actually hear it is better than ever.

Will have a good idea in a few weeks if we will be coming for sure.
Keep you posted.
PS.
The hubby said he will be your German interpreter. If it gets hairy... he has friends that are more versed than himself and can translate anything you wish.

It was great meeting everyone in Nashville. And to think I almost didn't make it due to scheduling. I wouldn't miss Vegas for anything next year. Just give me a date and I will make my reservations while the prices are still down.

My apologies Mr. Gleason (aka Balcony Bob), on the temporary laps in memory and not recognizing you the instant we met. Although, I will think of your words of wisdom every time I look at a Balcony.

Hank and Michelle it was great to see you again. This time instead of the mine freak following us, it was the weird flower lady.

Dick and Kay. You two are great. Thanks for the Cigar Dick. By the way, who would win.. you or your little brother?

Bob and Gerry. Wonderful meeting you two. Look forward to our next meeting in Vegas. Hey I didn't mean to tick the lady of in the hotel bar Friday night, you could have taken her.

Janie... sweet Janie. What can I say...told you I was soft. My wife was impressed that you were able to embarrass me. Looking forward to seeing you again.

Billy Well when we first began to talk here on VR.com I told you I couldn't picture you as "Billy". I was wrong again, Billy fits you to a tee. It was great meeting you sir. I will remember (and use) some of the Irish slang terms you taught me.

I felt sorry for Gina after hearing that she danced with Balcony Bob. Your toes have to be sore. Great meeting you.

Perry.. how again did you get lost onto a TN backroad? Was there an exit on the interstate that called your name? At least you made it home safely. Can't wait to meet your wife and see you again in Vegas.

Tammy and David. Great meeting you, but don't work to hard on the house. It will get done when it gets done. You guys will have to send me some pictures of your place when it is finished.
Lorraine, short jokes aside, it was wonderful to meet you and your companions.

Robthatsyou & Cristi. It was great to finally make it happen so we could meet. After the two attempts while you were working in Ft Wayne, Indiana (45 minutes from my house). Cindy and I finally catching up to you 45 minutes from yours. You two are great. Cindy and I look forward to getting together with you guys again.

I am at a loss for words to explain how much meeting everyone meant to my wife and I. We are planning on making the VR.com reunion an annual vacation for us. Although, my son made me promise to take him to Vegas. (That makes me nervous, lol)

God Bless all,

Ben & Cindy Smith

In honor of all of my brave new friends who let Hank test their Protimes
last Friday evening, I went to my clinic yesterday afternoon and got mine
checked two weeks earlier than scheduled.

Results: INR=3.4 (high, but in my safe range).

Can't figure this one out...I lost weight in Nashville! I wonder if there's any correlation between weight loss and getting lost while driving?

DickV
October 16th, 2001, 10:32 AM
I tested an almost perfect 2.9 in Nashville Sat. on Hankie's Protime. I forgot to test before I went to the gym yesterday so I tested after I got home and tested 2.4 on my Coag. I'm going to retest today because I have not been under 2.7 in about 9 months.

I'm not sure if it was Nashville or the gym that did me in.

LUVMyBirman
October 16th, 2001, 11:02 AM
Don't know if you all caught my INR upon returning. 4.6. ooops. As some of you know I have serious swings upon coming within a foot of high vitamin k foods:mad:

What usually works for me.... is to go up 1mg for the day upon consuming larger amounts.

This theory has worked great in the past but I have never #1 did it two days in a row #2 consumed more than just one or two glasses of wine within that time period.

Looks like it would have been better left alone this time. Did not want to run the risk of getting too low.

I am with Hank a few others here....more comfortable between 3.5 - 4.0. Especaily with the Mitral Valve. The risks of hemorrhage are very low and reservable. Clots on the other hand are not.

Lorraine
October 16th, 2001, 01:04 PM
I noticed when I got home I had a lot of bruising all over my arms. I was concerned that my INR had gone up too high. I too went to my doctors office and had another Coagucheck INR done. It was 2.7. That was down from Fridays 3.1 and last Wednesday 3.7. I thought you would bruise more if it was higher, unless first I got the bruises, then I ate some greens and then that lowered it. I'm with you Gina and Hank. I rather have it closer to 4.0. I'm leary when it goes down and I know I my dose is high enough. I did try to watch it with the drinking too.

Perry, you lost weight getting lost on the back roads? :D :D I think I'll try that.:) By the way, I think a mini-reunion would be nice. Gina knows the area so we know she won't get lost(TEE! HEE!)
I'm not real familiar with that particular area but I've got a good sense of direction. Don't worry guys, I won't invite my sister! I guess that was a bad call!:o on my part for Nashville.

By the way Ben, I didn't hear about the short jokes! That okay, I was thinking I was in the land of the Jolly Green Giants! :p :o :D. Well, maybe not green. It was a pleasure to have met you and Cindy too, Ben.

Hank
October 16th, 2001, 01:39 PM
I tested last night and I am up to an INR of 5.4. I guess need to eat more green stuff. Or take alternating 7.5mg/6mg instead of 7.5mg every day.

Still, I would rather have 5.4 instead of 2.0 :D

LUVMyBirman
October 16th, 2001, 01:47 PM
And you indulged pretty well in the greens this past weekend as I recall! Yep, 5 something is better than 2.0 for sure.

Hank, have you tried a straight dose consistently? When I was really jumping all over they had me altranating throughout the week. Then if that did not work they would change the dose again never giving me the opportunity to level out.
Doing better with myself.

Just a thought.

Know your on top of it cheif:D

Hank
October 16th, 2001, 03:35 PM
I have been on 7.5mg (yellow ones) a day for a week and a half now and that's what gave me the 5+ INR. I will test daily for the next few days and see what it does.

none of this would be possible without the ProTime. Home monitoring is the ONLY way to go. ProTime or Coaguchek doesn't matter really - just being able to take care of it myself is a wonderful feeling.

Well.....I hope you guys figure out this INR thing for the next reunion! Possible???? I say not after watching Robs go all over the place. But, we don't want that to keep you from enjoying yourselves in Vegas.

Perry, your lucky to make it out of Tenn. back roads in one piece! There are movies about that! I think you have a guardian angel.
Ben and Cindy, I hope we get to see you before Vegas. You and Rob have a special connection. It was great meeting you. Dick and Kay, I hope you do let us know when you are in town, we would love to get together. Lorraine, you are in one of my favorite cities... I love "Roses" penne ala vodka. Have some for me. I Would like to have the home testing unit for convenience. I didn't even feel the stick Hank gave me. My INR was low in Nashville at 1.7 but I can guarentee it was because it was evening and by AM it was probably back to 2.7. I stay on a steady dosage and don't worry about it. I try to live my life how I want and I don't watch what I eat or drink. Hey its worked for 12 years. I don't drink alot but if I did I would worry more about having 10 drinks than eating a salad. The only thing my Doctor warned me about was drinking too much, it takes alot of vitamin K to effect INR in most people but everyone is different. Believe it or not you won't feel the urge to be tested 3 times a day or even 3 times a week in 10 or 12 years. At least I hope not. LOL.
My goal is to keep my INR at 3.0, I should be able to accomplish that goal. Everyone is different and no one knows their body like yourself. Relax.

I’m so happy for everyone who was able to make it to Nashville! There is a very special bond between us that is felt in an awesome way when we meet in person. Like Hank said, “The only way one could know the feeling of being with such people is to be there personally.” I can hardly wait to meet everyone in Las Vegas.

And I WILL be in Vegas... ‘you can bet your bottom dollar on it’! :)

Where’s the Nashville pictures?!

Rain, we all really missed you! I will be at the Las Vegas Reunion so I know I'll meet you then. I never experienced such a great feeling, such a bond, like I felt meeting my fellow clickers in Nashville. I thought I clicked loud, but there were a few that I could definitely hear more than myself.

Tammy, After seeing Hanks Protime in action, I for sure will tell my doctor to write me a prescription for it when I see him. I believe my insurance will pay for it. I love the idea of being able to monitor myself instead of waiting until when ever the doctors office tells me to come in. Right now it's been every two weeks.

ChristiD, I will most certainly have one of those drinks, especially if Gina,Perry, his wife and I get together around Thanksgiving. I believe they were discussing some place in Glenview?

Cheers!

Hope we don't have to send the troops after you.

You can blame me for the untimely non-arrival of the Nashville pictures. Tracy needs to show me the camera computer/interface thing. Would have given it a whril myself but the cable is in his briefcase.

Hi Lorraine,

Penne ala Vodka sounds like a good drink...but it is actually the best pasta dish! Penne pasta with a creamy vodka sauce...Yum! I have had it at Roses, either downtown Chicago or in Little Italy. If you go, you have to have this dish. Really good bread too. Do you know the place?

Hi Cristi!

Boy am I embarrased. And I thought you were talking about a drink! :o :o I never had that pasta dish. Sounds like it would be real good. If you and Rob ever come into town we should go there. I actually live in suburb about 50 miles northwest of Chicago. I do commute to work every day to Chicago. I generally go out to eat in areas around where I live but I have been known to frequent places downtown! I've heard of Roses but I've never been there. I will find out where it is. Take care!

Hi Everybody

Sorry Hensylee that I was so long in posting, but I just got back to Ireland this morning. The reverse jet-lag is worse than the trip across, so I hope that I can stay awake long enough to get my views of Nashville into print........eventually.

Perry got on to the Tennessee by-ways for an hour last Sunday
morning.......well I got on them for a week and just got off of them on Friday. I knew it would take some time to get back down to earth after the re-union, so I decided to explore rural USA. After six previous trips across the wide pond, I realised that I had never really seen much past the city limits and that there would be a whole new world out there waiting to be explored. It's not for the faint hearted this beautiful country of y'all's (Is that the correct way y'all spell it?)

It was a wonderful experience seeing around tham thar hills and valleys, and trees, loads of trees and roads......jeeze what roads y'all have and the cost of 'gas' - 99 cents in places. In Northern Ireland we pay more for a litre than y'all pay for a gallon - Dunno what Tony Blair does with the money, certainly doesn't build roads with it.

Anyway back to last weekend and a 'unique' experience of a lifetime. I had a lotta time to think and ponder on the way out to Nashville. Time to really think about how I had become involved with this rather special group of very 'human' beings. It was a very sad event in my life that got me involved with all of you. When I joined VR.com, I was probably at my most desperate stage in my grieving process.

I thought of Myrtle and wondered if perhaps she was really there in spirit. I know if things had been different she would have really enjoyed making the trip to the re-union and I kinda felt that she was happy that I was going.

Many of you probably don't realise this, but for most of the last year, I have 'talked' more to all of you than I have to my neighbours or friends in Northern Ireland. You all became a very big part of my life, some more than others. I was always so happy to reply to posts on the forum, or to e-mail a reply to anyone who took the time to write personally to me. And I really appreciated every one of you for accepting me into your unique group.

You can therefore imagine how emotional I felt as I got closer to the actual meeting. It was an experience that I cannot put into words. I thought about who I most wanted to meet and although I didn't communicate a lot with them, I suddenly just wanted to hug Hank and Michelle first, even before I met anybody else. Without both of them none of us would have been there. God bless you both.

Well it didn't quite happen that way, I arrived at the Embassy suites and there y'all were, just a bunch of wonderful people who again made me feel so welcome. Folks I'd never met before who seemed like I'd known them all my life. Boy was I glad when somebody mentioned a 'Margarita.' If ever an Irishman needed a drink I needed one last Friday morning around 10.30am.

Even before the demon drink had time to take effect, it all became kinda 'blurry.' I have a vague recollection of a lotta hugs some from those with 'avatars' and some from completely new faces. I don't really know what would have happened if the 'Mandolin' Man hadn't appeared complete with instrument and settled me down. Thanks Dick Vincent for helping to bring
me back to reality. If you wanna settle Billy's nerves, get the 'jam' session going and that's just what you did. I thought we were gonna need Musician's 'union' cards to be allowed to use the piano, but I think the hotel Manager thought it would be better to let us play rather than face the consequences of refusing. The bar takings sure didn't suffer for us being there, the 'two drink' limit was quickly forgotten and I hope the music improved as the Margaritas and Bloody Mary's were lowered.

As the morning turned into afternoon I got to meet with each of you on a more personal level.

Hank and Michelle.........Better mention the Boss and Spouse first. Nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. Two very wonderful people who have affected all our lives and brought us together. Your efforts have blessed us all.

Janie.............is just Janie, same on the forum or in real life. A very wonderful, special Lady. Janie was the first person to reply to my first post on VR.com last October. She offered help and sympathy when I most needed these and a bond has developed and grown over the past twelve months. She is so special to me in so many ways, and despite her very youthful appearance, she remembered all the songs that Dick and I played, even some from the early fifties. Musicians the world over just love to have their efforts appreciated.

Bob Gleason......The Yankee Cowboy, right in the middle of real 'Cowboy' country. Thank you for your gift Bob and Happy Birthday once again. Bob you need a hat and boots if you're gonna come to Nashville. No problem with your accent, I understood everything you said. You're a very warm Guy and I'm so glad you were there. Please bring Mrs Gleason next time, you need all the moral support you can get in the sporting activities, I know these other Guys give you a real hard time. Perhaps I should apologise for their distasteful behaviour in this respect. Does that allow me to 'skip' confessions this time around?

Dick and Kay.........Dick must be the ideal husband. He is a man of few words. Even on the forum his posts are often 'one-liners.' How many Wives must yearn for a man who is so considerate in this respect. It was a pleasure to meet both of you and to share in the music with Dick. I also enjoyed Kay's company at dinner on Friday night and I'm grateful to both of you for providing my honorary 'plastic valve' which I wore at the official dinner.

Bob and Geri..........Great to meet both of you and thank you for your very thoughtful gift. I exchanged e-mails with Bob last December at a time when we were both having sad events in our lives. Thank you for your friendship over the last year.

Tammy and David........New faces to me although Tammy has been a member of the 'valve community' for a long time. It was so good to get to meet both of you also as previously our paths hadn't really crossed. Tammy, you're a bunch of 'fun.'

Lorraine/Sister/and Friend..........Two big events in one week Lorraine, birthday first and then the re-union. No wonder you were getting your drinks and your pasta's mixed up. It was good to meet you all.

Ben and Cindy...........The last of the early 'arrivers.' Now why did I leave these two to last? Ben Smith you are the cutest Guy I have ever met, but Cindy's much better looking...sorry Ben.
What a gentle Giant, and I mean Giant. Folks if you have any doubts about coming to the next re-union, believe me it will be worth the trip to meet our Ben Smith. Certainly one of nature's Gentlemen or should that read GentleBOY....Hell he's only a kid and a real big one at that. Ben I hope you've stopped growing....and the boots, I just loved them. Please get started right away if you want to have that pony-tail ready for next
October.

Well those were the 'Friday morning' people. We were joined later by a few others for the dinner on Friday night.............

Gina.............Now what a surprise, never trust an avatar. So good to meet you and get to know you Gina. Thanks for your company at the 'Palace' and for the ride to dinner on Saturday night. Glad you didn't lock ME in the car.

Perry...........Another surprise from the avatar. I thought you were about Ben's height. Enjoyed our photographic talk and I know that you will be a big asset to VR.com in the future. Your ideas and suggestions will make the site even better, if that's possible.

Rob That's Me and Cristi (Now also known as 'Rob That's She') Rob, we planned on drinking a lotta beers in Nashville and we never got round to it. Never mind, as we say in Ireland the 'crack' was good and there's always next time. Come join us for the jam session next year, Dick and I need the support. So pleased to meet you Cristi and to share our 'experiences.'

What a group!!! Those who didn't get to attend this time, please plan on making the trip to Vegas next October. The dinners both nights were good, so good on Saturday night that I think I missed a small part at the end, perhaps it was just a few 'senior moments.' Never mind, I had a real good time, with real good
people. Only three disappointments, that Rain, Mara and David didn't make it in the end. You were all greatly missed and I know that you will be there next time. Hopefully there will be many of the newer faces along too. Thank you all for accepting a valveless Irishman into your midst and making him feel so welcome.

And you know what...........Due to weather conditions, Golf, Toga Party and Scar Contest were postponed till next time and we got right thru the weekend without even a mention of Mexican food.

What a relief!!!...................I'm only kidding Janie.

God Bless y'all

P.S. Ben and Bob - Your new avatar's will be with you in the next few days.

Was that YOU in that rusty old Ford that almost ran me off the road? Billy, I enjoyed your excellent reply and please e-mail me your regular mailing address (we call it snail-mail) so I can send you one of my digital photo catalogs I was describing to ya.

Cheers!

Looking forward to seeing you again in Las Vegas.

Hey ..the reunion sounded so much fun ....the photos are really great Hank ..thanks for posting them for us all to see....
I think the rest of us an envious that we did n't get to meet you all ...

Billy so glad you made it home okay ...we were starting to worry that you'd got lost out there and weren't coming home when there was no sign of you for a few days ...if you're ever coming across to this side you'll have to let me know as I would love to meet you ..glad you had such a great time ...and I'm sure your Myrtle was with you and very pleased and proud at how you've gone on ...well done young man !

*Wondering how I can save enough money to go to Vegas with out the family *..we have been over a few yrs ago and we spent a few days in Vegas ..the kids called it "Sparkle City" ..quite a change from a small Highland village ....they would kill me if I tried to sneak over without them ...but with college looming for the oldest two kids I doubt I'll make it ..darn!!!!!!
anyway glad you all had such a great time

I may have failed to mention this when I did my summarization of Nashville, but as the week has gone by many remembrances keep coming up..........one especially.

........we said our "so-longs" (not goodbyes) to each other, embraced and yes, even planted a kiss or two on each other's cheek. My eyes filled up and I suspect yours did as well.

.......Just two friends culminating a special time, well-worth the year or so, waiting.

You, my friend are one class act.

Thanks.

OK, now I understand.

The complainers on this board need to get a life.

I agree, Dick.

Complainers..... Get a life! Who were the complainers anyway??

You know the old saying..... If you can’t take the heat.... stay out of the kitchen.

There are many other threads to be read if you don’t like this one!

What was there to complain about? I thought we were all just having fun. The post were funny. Gee, we could have had a picture posted about my sister locked in the car or me in the land of the giants. Any comments about that too would have made me laugh. Life is too short(no pun intended) and we have been blessed with a second chance. I agree Rain, there are plenty of other threads to get on if you didn't like the caption contest!
