Hank,
First of all, I haven't personally thanked you for creating and running this site. It's been of immeasureable value to me in gaining information and support for the surgery that lies ahead. I know I'm just one of many who are grateful but I wanted to add my voice to the throng. As to donations to keep the site running, I'm delighted to be able to contribute. I'm sending a check in tomorrow's mail.
Thanks again,
Sue

Ross,
Duh-I should have thanked you too, of course and I certainly do. Not only are you the "heartbeat" of vr.com, you also offer us freely your knowlegde, support and most appreciated by me, your wicked sense of humor which always improves my perspective on the world.
Many thanks,
Sue

it's first of the month - time to pay bills. This is just a reminder that you should read the first post here. All the info is there and if you feel like it and can afford, send a check to help Hank out with the site. We all participate and get good info - time for payback for some of us. If you can't afford - don't even read this. This reminder is for those who CAN afford.

Thanks Ann

P.S. next month it will be Bonnie's, or Ross', or Ben's, or..........turn to remind.

How selfish of me, I have been gaining the benefit of much wisdom and support on this site and haven't even taken the time to thank the creator. I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. This website helped me through what I consider the worst experience of my life :D . My check will be in the mail tomorrow.
Again, thank you.

Hello All,

Thank you so very much to those who have contributed to VR.com.

In regards to credit card services:

Is there a service that y'all use instead of Paypal?

If you have any suggestions, I am very interested in hearing them.

Once again - You all keep this going and Michelle and I and all members who benefit thank you..

Thank you Hank for the site and contribution information. At times I wonder what I would have done had I not come across this site.

Hank,
I had trouble with the Pay Pal service. They have me down as having another account with them, and wouldn't let a payment go through. Since I never use checks if I can help it, I'm sending along a money order made out to Valve replacement.
If you can think of anyway to get around the PayPal difficulty, it would be great. I would happily call you, and give you all the card information, if that would do it.
Until something better comes along, I'll use a money order.
I also want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating this site. I've only been on a month, and it has helped my mental state 100%. Thanks so much.

I have had no problems at all donating through the PayPal service. It has always worked fine for me, and I hope we don't wind up tossing the baby out with the bathwater.

However, if you do change services, please keep us up-to-date, so we know how to continue.

Hey Bob,
I am with you, I have not had any problems using paypal and hope we don't do away it. But if we do I will go with the flow.

Thanks again Hank for this Great Site.

Take Care

Hello Friends - I have created a new contribution page:

http://valvereplacement.com/contributions.htm

All available methods of contributing to VR.com will be available on this page in the future. Currently there are options for PayPal and Amazon payments via credit card.

Hank,
Thanks for adding the Amazon payment site. I was able to use that.

Janie, I just clicked on the link Hank put in his post, and it took me right to the Amazon "thingie!"

Ross,
Is there anyway to permanently post the mail addresses and websites for Pay Pal and Amazon somewhere on the main forum page so we wouldn't have to search each month for them? It would be easy to then post a reminder on a thread . I looked back at the info in Hank's thread to try and figure out how to copy and paste them all, but it didn't work. :(

SCROLL all the way down to bottom of main page. All information there but Amazon...Credit cards, paypal, ect.....................Also, because we started a thread every month..it DOES not mean contribute every month..Just once a year or more if you can afford it...We are doing it for newbies, ect..so they will know. :) :) :) :) Bonnie

Ross,
Is it possible to add the Amazon website to the main page? Several of us have trouble using PayPal (and it's listed) but not Amazon.
Bonnie, I figure I will send some $ every chance I get (monthly) in the event I run out of $$ further down the line (teachers never know what budget cuts will bring!) :) I figure VR is much cheaper than therapy sessions! Truly, I think I was about to lose my mind when I wandered on here! That's not to say I won't lose it later on down the road, but . . . at least it's been put on hold for awhile!

Hello Mary,

If you go to http://www.valvereplacement.com , and look to the right of the main logo at the top of the page, you will see the word "Contribute" - If you click on that link, you will go to the page where the Amazon donation link is.

And thank you so much for thinking of us... :)

While I don't believe it is tied to this site, if you use PayPal (or other online payment services), be wary of email messages:
This came, supposedly from service @ paypal . com. There are others floating around purportedly from various banks and other online financial services:

Dear PayPal Customer:
It has come to our attention that your PayPal billing updates are
out of order. If you could please take 5-10 minutes out of your
online experience and update your billing records you will not run
into any future problems with the online service. However, failure
to update your records will result in account termination.

Once you have updated your account records your PayPal session will not be
interrupted and will continue as normal. Failure to update will result in
cancellation of service, Terms of Service (TOS) violations or future billing
problems.

To update your PayPal records click here:

Note: URLs above have been purposely damaged to keep you from going there accidentally.

It had a nice logo that I can't reproduce here, which looked quite real. I thought it sounded bogus, and contacted PayPal through their site. They verified that it was not sent from PayPal, and are investigating the site it sends people to.

Never reply directly to any financial institution that contacts you via email by using a provided URL (link). Always contact them by going to their site and using their "contact us" information to verify that the email came from them first.

A little suspicion can be a good thing. 'Nuff said.

That's certainly good to know. I'm using the Amazon site because I have had trouble with making payments through Pay Pal. I don't want to discredit Pay Pal, but I do want everyone to know there's another avenue open to use for credit card donations.
