It is 2004 so the reunion is this year...I have some friends in Denver so I have told them I will see them when I visit for the Reunion. I am driving there so if any of you folks live along the way...Madison Wisconsin...? thru Iowa...Nebraska ...to Denver let me know. Maybe we can form a wagon train of sorts....rz

It is _never_ to early to talk about reunions :). Heck, it seems as tho us Chicagoans are going to be meeting here in a few weeks ;).

Back to Denver, I, too, plan on driving, in part because it will be included with my "western swing" road trip through TX, OK, NM, UT, CO, etc. However, I haven't decided yet whether Denver will be my first or last stop of the trip.... But, I'd be willing to "wagon train" with ya going or coming, depending on where in my trip (first or last) the Denver stop falls :).

*scurry, scurry* With PillarPaul at the helm, we Coloradans are busy making plans. It's never to early to talk reunions! Why, I just got an email today to discuss plans next Sunday.

Glad to see the interest - keep it comin'!

Hi

Glad this subject came up.....exactly what are the dates for the reunion? Are they firm yet....I heard it was going to be some time in September, yes? We would love to go, but will have to do some scheduling around a few plans, so please let us know when.

Looks like the CO team have plans in the works. Dates I recall were in October? Hope that is still the case as September would be out for me:(.

Looking forward to hearing more soon! Like Robert, have some friends in Denver I will be visiting sometime before or after the reunion:) More info would be greatly apprecaited.

Hey Robert,

I might consider joining the wagon train. Would you be taking the Northern Trail (I-90) or the Southern Trail (I-80)? If you go the Southern way I could hook up with you south of Rockford (at a time and date later to be discussed) and mush on from there.

I've got an old friend up in Ft. Collins, so I really need my own car.

I'm assuming Dottie is riding shotgun for you?

Cheers!

I’m surprised so many of you are driving. I think Bonnie is planning to drive too. I wonder how hard it would be to figure out how many are planning to fly? Probably next to impossible at this point. :(

Far as I know the reunion is still October. I think we realized as a ‘family’ last year that the dates have to remain solid. Bigger the family... more important it is to stick to the schedule. I say this from experience....I’m the baby of eight. Just getting our eight families together on one day is an incredible feat. You’re best chance of making it happen is to set the dates far in advance and stick to them.

Hope to see you all here in our beautiful state of Colorado!!

This response is just too much for my heart to handle...just kidding...nice to hear from you all. Guess it is never too late to hook on to one of them wagon trains heading west, o'er the Mississippi River...

I seem to recall the dates being oct 14th to 17th...anyone else recall...what about our leader from AZ?

I guess I would go west via I 80 although I have never driven through Minny and South Dakota and I have yet to see Mount Rushmore...guess I could go one way and back the other...to be honest I have not thought much about the route until now....

Wonder if Montana is on the way?

This is great. Yes we must wagon train it and yes Lady Dottie Mae will ride along in the back seat of our rent a car whatever it may be..........RZ

The official dates are Thursday, October 14th - Sunday, October 17th.

You can bank on it because it IS NOT changing!

hi all!
i don't think joey and i willl be able to make it to this one....doing that college thing again and may be visiting our older daughter in florence, italy (not sure of those dates...)
i will certainly be thinking about you all having so many laughs together.

Sylvia,
Sorry that you and Joey won't be there...we'll miss ya :).

Gina,
I had actually considered asking anyone from the Chicagoland area if they wanted to ride with me one way, either going or coming, depending on which route I take for my "Western Swing" road trip.

Rob (& others),
You mentioned taking 80 (via Iowa/Nebraska) or 90 (via MN SD) straight across. I had been planning on taking 80; however, depending on how my schedule looks, I may end up taking 70 across (i.e. go down to St Louis) and stop in Wichita to see my friends there going or coming...but, not sure...especially now that I look at the map...LOL! Originally, I was lookin' at Chicago to Denver to Salt Lake City to Albuquerque to Wichita to OKC to Dallas to home [or vice versa]. But, perhaps the travel lines will be Chicago to Wichita to Denver to Salt Lake City to Albuquerque to OKC to Dallas to home [or vice versa]....decisions decisions decisions ;). But, I gots plenty of time :).

Robert -- you're gonna have Lady Dottie Mae ride in the BACK seat???

JimL
January 13th, 2004, 07:00 AM
We drove the I-80 route a few (15) years ago, a full two days' drive from the Chicago area. But there is wonderful scenery along the way as you cross the Platte River, and then a little further down the road you cross the Platte River, and then a little further... and the mountains take so long to get any closer.

I think we'll fly and rent a car in Denver, as long as the prices aren't too exhorbitant; I'm sure it will be more than $5 for us.

EVELYN

Good dates!!! Our springer national is the end of september, so October is looking good for us, too. We'll be driving also, but don't know where from yet......can't wait to meet everyone in person.

Oh, quick question, since we'll be coming from the dog show, can we bring the dogs in the motor home? Will they accept them? Anyone??

Looks like I'll be flying The Friendly Skies -- I just don't have that much vacation time at this company (have to be here 10 years for a third week. . . ), and we have the "schlep the kid to college" thing going, too. Wish I could drive, though. Done that one a couple of times, and enjoyed it.

Cort - are you trying to beat my "longest day" ride of Dallas to Atlanta in a single day?

LUVMyBirman
January 13th, 2004, 09:39 AM
Steve, I will be flying AA. If that carrier works for you..maybe we can match up the return and fly back together?

Looks like I will be heading out on the 12th to visit with my friends prior to. As soon as the basic agenda is posted........going to book my ticket.;)

EV, Robert Z is bringing Dottie our VR.com Dalmation Mascot :D. She a beauty. She stayed in the Embassy Suites at the Chicago Reunion. Most hotels do accept pets...so I am sure it will not be an issue. Can't wait to meet you!

Steve,

Maybe I am...maybe I'm not ;).

LOL!

Seriously, tho, even the long drives (i.e. over 8 hrs) I'm hoping to find "stops" along the way to break those out...and take the extra days so I'm not pushing myself, especially if I end up doing all the driving by myself. Yep, I love to drive, but the 8 hrish drive from Bridgewater VA to Nashville TN was just about too much for me this past August...and that was the longest I was on the road at one time during that 11-day excursion. So, we shall see ;)

January 14th, 2004, 09:45 AM
Jim, I may already have the car once you all arrive in Denver. Not sure if I will need one at this point. All depends on the schedule of the freinds I am visiting and reunion location.

Looks like I will be in Denver on 10/12.
Let's talk closer to that time and hopefully if all works out...I can arrange to pick you up at the airport. :)

Chicago was actually optimal for those flying in. There was a free shuttle to the hotel. Hope the CO reunion committee will take travel distance from the airport into consideration for those weary air travelers so there can be a savings on the car rental;)

A few questions:

What's the weather in Denver in October?

If we're coming in a motor home, I assume we can stay at the park you guys were talking about, yes?

If not, are there any motor home parks you would recommend?

I'm assuming it will be easy to rent a vehicle out there, yes?

Thanks!!!

Hi Sherrin,

Michelle Vr.Coms first lady did suggest this at the last reunion!

It's a fantastic idea! There may be a few people out here that can help. Of course....this would be up to Hank. I am sure we could twist his arm in the proper direction:D

Have only been on one cruise. Trying to get my daughter and husband on one...but they both get seasick. Explaining that there are things you can take for that...and on the larger ships you really don't feel it too much.

Anyway, thumbs up here. Might be the only way I will see the high seas again!

Hi Gina
There are all kinds of new drugs for motion sickness. We took our friends a couple years ago . She didn't like close spaces and got motion sickness in the car. Their whole family had a great time and are ready to take a longer cruise now. It is like a small city on water. There some lines better than others. The last one I was one there were 5 weddings on board. Some of the new ships have rock climbing and Ice skating rings (rink). There are alot of great deals on 3&4 day cruises.200.00-300.00 for room and all the food you can eat. Like a 4*resturant. Midnight choclate feast!:D I even went on two cruise when I was on oxygen. I went to Jamica & mexican Reveria with my daughters. Maybe Ross can make this one. The oxygen co. brought it to the ship
and pick it up. I have never ben on one I didn't like.

It's either that or Ireland :D

I would vote for either. A reunion planned by Billy would probably be a VERY memorable event.

Dottie loves to go in the water. She will have fun on the cruise. I don't know about you sun belters but us midwestern or northerners could sure use some sunny warm weather right now. It is cold out...no cold is not the right word... it's f..f.freezin!

A cruise? {thinks for a moment} Maybe Chris (my wife) would "consider" it -- we've been on several cruises and have always had a wonderful time. My daughter loves them, too. Count me in, if that's the plan!

Hi
If we do a cruise that boat would be a rocking for sure. It would be so much fun!:D The cheaper rooms are just as good to me. We always go for the ones with no windows because I have this thing about water. I had a panic attack one time when we was crossing the Chessapeak bay. Boy did I freak out. I have never had a bad time on one. HO!!!!!!!!!:D My the food is to die for. I took my daghter to Jamica for her senior yr. spring break. WE went a girl friend of mine and her daughter. It was their first. We had so much fun. I had to drag oxygen with me everywhere but I was to it by them. The 4 yrs. I used it I was on the go all the time the insurance ask me one time if I would take the oxygen on the plane with me. That person wasn't to smart, like they would let do that anyway!
I went on three cruises and went to boston and tour NY to Miami. I am a hard person to keep down. I guess that drive is what keep me alive. I have to many things I still want to see. And I am still not a grandma yet. I guess they have to get married first. ( or at least I would like for it to happen that way!My oldest is almost 30 she just has not met Mr. Right yet. Got close with about 4 others though. My youngest is still in school but has a boy friend of 3 yrs. with the same major thank God.

Everyone have a safe and great week!:D

I'm sure we'll fly - spent years driving between here and Denver (my mom lives in Evergreen) with kids and dogs and swore that once we could afford it I'd NEVER do that drive again.

We'll be coming out for extra time, because we'll visit mom. I may bring her to one of the dinners; she'd be tickled and she's a lot of fun (don't tell Jim).

Cruise - I love cruising - and there really are very good deals for short cruises around the Gulf. Sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Chicagoans in a couple of weeks.

I hope everyone who can will consider coming to the reunion in Denver; I hadn't been on the site for long when the reunion in Chicago was announced. I can't tell everyone how fun it was and how neat it was to meet the people on the forum.

I am planning on attending the reunion in the great state of Colorado! I am pretty sure that Christine will be coming as well! We thought that it was about time that we corrupted the great state of Colorado !:D Raine that we included you and Gregg, too! Has there been any decisions made as to where we are staying??I am really sorry that I missed the Chicago reunion! It sounds like you all had a blast! It will be great to see old friends and meet new ones! As for 2005, count me in on a cruise! I love cruising!

Hey Joni!!!

How you doin’ girlfriend!!

Colorado’s pretty tame compared to Vegas. But I’m sure we’ll find some trouble to get into somewhere. :D Especially if we’re trying to keep up with ol’ Greg long legs!!

The reunion will be somewhere in the Denver area. We decided that would be easier for those flying in. Will you be flying or driving?? Far as I know the hotel hasn’t been chosen yet... but our committee promised a few more details this week.

I love water and sunshine... a cruise sounds great!!

Gosh, you both replied so quickly! Now, Gina. Somehow I believe that you could easily be a ring leader of this group!!!!;) It will really be a fun time! Raine, have you heard anything from Greggo?
He'll just have to be there too! Yes, Christine and I are planning to fly to Denver. Christine has one of those things called a "job" and has limited time! I have only been in the airport of Denver so I am looking forward to visiting there! Got to run.....Later chicks!

Hey Joni,

DIA isn’t a good example of what Colorado looks like.... just wait until you see our beautiful mountains. It’ll be a blast! Maybe we can take a trip to see the colors.

Haven’t heard from Greg in a while. Must be time to rattle his tree. :p
