This is a special recipe that you won't find anywhere else because my father dreamed it up. The Crawford boys were known for messin' around in the kitchen - sometimes we even cooked. The dip itself is not necessarily low cal, but if you use it right - as a way to make a whole lunch out of carrots and celery and maybe a few crackers, it can be pretty effective. I call it Bipolar because some people really like it, and some think it's pretty gross. You be the judge. The ingredients are listed for one hungry dude trying to be a good boy - (for a change)
1 HTSF (heaping tablespoon full) of peanut butter
1 HTSF mayonaisse (Nancy's is best, or use low cal)
11/2 HTSF Ketchup
A big dash of A-1 sauce
some small dashes of Frank's Hot Sauce.
Stir this together, then slice your celery, carrots, and any other veggies you find in the fridge. Find that box of low cal crackers that you have been avoiding because they taste so bland. Go ahead, dip and munch. Your gonna either love me or hate me and I welcome your comments - Modify the amounts of the ingredients at your own risk.

No offense, but I think I'll wait for another brave member to try that one.

Hey guys! We probably all have these ingredients and it sounds simple---why don't we try it? Who will go first?

but not me. I don't like peanut butter, I know I'm nuts(pun intended) Leave that out and it sounds okay.

Initial reaction:  GAACK  BLECH  PTOOOEY  RAAALPH
Upon reflection: What's it taste like, generally speaking? If sufficiently intriguing, I might whip some up just to tell the story :)

Willy John's is a very flavorful tasting dip. That is to say, there are a number of different flavors at work, which is what makes it interesting and helps to make an otherwise dull plate of raw vegetables more exciting. The peanut butter taste comes thru, but doesn't dominate. In fact, you can change the proportions and get several different effects. Other than the above, I don't know how to describe it. Surely you don't have to be that brave just to try it ?

But I don't know about Frank's hot soauce. is that a brand name, or is that a sauce from one of the other members?
I'll give it a try with my Crazy Cajun Jalapeno Pouring Sauce...

Now See, Swill is adventurous. Are the rest of you culinary non-adventurers going to sit by on the sidelines, and wait until its safe to dip your toe in the pool ??

I shared my dip with my husband who has a different opinion. I guess bi-polar may be a good name for the dip.

Can't get my wife to try it, though. She said she read the recipe while I was making it, and she says 'No way!'...

The dip also goes well with Clinton Soup. Don't know about Clinton soup ?? That's a weenie in hot water ! When asked about foreign affairs, Bill answered "Don't know, never had one "

I think I might like it if I substituted the pntbutter with, say, low fat sour cream, or something of that nature. I have to be in a special mood to enjoy peanut butter.
maybe i'll make some up for my husband to try.

Reminds me of one of the first dinner's I cooked for in-laws. Mother-in-law was from Sweden and a great cook. For the salad. I fixed a plate of lettuce. put on a slice of banana and a dop of peanut butter. Everyone looked very funny but ate it. I still laugh about that dish...I learned from her. as long as your table looks good. the food would taste good. She always used linen tablecloths and napkins. Would wash and iron them the next day. I did the same for about 20 years until the children went away to college. My daughter still uses a fork and knife to eat chicken.:p :p Now hubby and I fix our plates..he to his chair in front of news and me to VR.. when Granson is here. we sit at table and he must say. Thank you, I enjoyed it. May I be excused.:) :) :) Son sits in patrol car 12 hours and likes to eat standing at my kitchen counter.:p :p :p Bonnie
