Hello,

I just received information that the CardioChek monitor for cholesterol, is having a sale until the end of the year. Polymer, the manufacturer, is offering an instant rebate of $100.00 and a free cholesterol manuel. Anyone interested can call QAS at 800-298-4515 or visit www.hometestmed.com. Please give us a call if you have questions.

Does the CardioChek instrument provide a complete Lipid Profile (HDL, LDL, Triglycerides, and Total Cholesterol) or simply Total Cholesterol?

'AL'

The CardioChek does Triglycerides, Total Cholesterol, HDL, Ketone's and Glucose. These are all done from separate strips, and you purchase the test you would like to use at home. A lipid panel is Triglycerides, TC, HDL and LDL. The LDL is easy to calculate using this formula:

Total Cholesterol - HDL - (Triglycerides divided by five).

This formula should not be used if Triglycerides are above 400. If you do those tests, simply use this equation, and there you have a lipid panel. Remember to fast if you want the results to be accurate.

Physicians can perform all of these tests on one strip, but the FDA doesn't allow the lipid panel to be performed in the home.
