A suggestion. What about selling stuff to generate income. Stuff like heart tee-shirts, or MECH WARRIOR T's for those of us with mechanical valves, mugs, etc. Just an idea. Bat it around, or foul it out!:D

Hank was selling things through Cafepress, but I don't think it was making enough money to continue doing it.

Let members send in their favorite pictures......Anything from Members, Reunions, Children, Grandchildren, scenes from where they live, ect. for the picture of the Month...with the Grand picture being on the cover.:) Looking at the one I keep on my computer table is from our Local Realty...Free. but VR.Com could charge..maybe $10.00?..And members would have to post a saying..Like I'm looking at the Sept. one now..beautiful fall trees..saying..Courage is Grace Under Pressure.:) .....Bonnie

we had tee shirts made once upon a time and they sold out, I believe. Then Cafe Press was on VR homepage, but gone. Like Ross said, I guess it didn't go over well.

Absolutely no offense (I own two of them), but the logo didn't really make it on T-shirts.

Best wishes,

Hank

I'm almost certain he got the Cafe Press shirts, not the ones from 2002 that Perry had made up. ;)

I think Ross is right, I have one of Perry's sweatshirts and it was always fine condition. But I did buy a tank top and shorts from CafePress with the VR.com logo. The logo from Cafe press did not hold up well after washing. But I still do my VR.com advertising faded and all.

The shirts that Perry had made up are TOUGH. Mine have been through the wash at least 100 times and they are still in great shape.

Yes - the CafePress shirts are not nearly as good as the Perry shirts. Those were screenprinted and CafePress is Heat transfer.

They have improved a lot in the last year or so and the images are better than they were.

Unless someone wants to volunteer to go through the nightmare that Perry went through to get the shirts made, CafePress is all we have for now.

If you just buy a new one every time it gets dirty then you will never experience and problems :D

Just curious, what's the actual deal with Cafe Press? Does Hank and VR.com see any sort of profit from it. Like a percentage or something?

I love my VR.com (Perry) sweatshirt, very soft. Wear it to all my dr appts in the winter. It's somehow comforting to me. It's like I bring all of you to the dr's office with me for support.

It makes me very happy to hear that the 2002 VR.COM tees and sweats have held up so well! Sorry to say the company that got them done for me is out of business, so reprints are out of the question.

It was a huge undertaking for me (although it truly was a labor of love!) to single-handedly coordinate everything from the design and printing, taking orders for multiple sizes, shipping, accounting for payments, etc. and finally mailing the profit check and unclaimed product off to Hank.

I suspect Hank encountered some of the same issues with CafePress. I know nothing of their quality as I never bought anything from them.

In terms of new fundraising efforts for VR.COM, I think it is much easier to commit to sending a donation check to Hank every now and again in appreciation of this supportive website. Another barrage of merchandise has good intentions and it shows that people have good "hearts!" But, beware, it is one heck of a lot of work. With the membership growth to its current number, I think it would take no less than a professional merchandising/marketing person's experience for it to succeed.

Thanks all and have a quality day!

Perry I remember what a major headache it was for you and getting everyone to send their money after reserving the shirts. All I can say is thank you over and over. I got mine while I was in CSICU and wore it out of that place 60 days later. They are tough shirts and I do believe, the best silk screening job I've ever seen. The ink simply has not cracked, peeled or anything yet on mine.

Perry, do you have any of these left? How do you get to Cafe Press?

Go to CafePress.com and put in a search for valvereplacement...No space in between. For some reason it won't come up if you search valve replacement or valvereplacement.com.

Hey those shirts don't look half bad, might have to get me one. Do any of the proceeds go to this site?

I have a shirt from the Golden Reunion two years ago and thought that logo was very well done. This year's reunion logo is clever too; who designed it this year?

"I think it would take no less than a professional merchandising/marketing person's experience for it to succeed."

We have one. He just needs to know what goes on the shirts. He has written to Hank asking for that info. Shirts can be ordered directly from his company. Screen print shirts.
