View Full Version : ProTime Accuracy While On LMWH

I'm curious if the ProTime will provide accurate reading when used to measure blood INR on Low Molecular Weight Heparin therapy?

I'm facing a colonoscopy procedure later this year and am weighing the decision to have it while on Coumadin or stopping the Coumadin and replacing it with LMWH. I'd like to monitor my INR at home with my ProTime - but only if the readings are accurate.

Thanks,

Ron

Dear Ron,

Unfortunately, the ProTime will NOT be useful to you when you are on low molecular weight heparin. ITC is currently in development of a way to make it useful while on heparin, but at this time you'll have to ask your physician for your INR. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to call.
