A nearby fire department threw our town outta gas earlier this week -- someone mistook a gas main valve for a water main valve.

Much of the town was without natural gas for about 24 hours. Luckily, it wasn't 20 degrees or icy.

The Sonic drive-in sign was very interesting.... I'm hoping it comes across as an attachment.

Too funny, Marsha!:D
That Sonic sign is much more attractive than the sign sitting outside our Sonic, but then, ours doesn't have gas!!!:p :p

Mary:
Lots of townfolk fought the Sonic coming in. We have a tiny town -- about 1,000-1,200 -- and the Sonic was built right next to a residence . Lots of congestion around the Sonic, compounded by the fact that there's only one way in & one way out of town. Lots of school traffic past the Sonic -- our town's school district serves a huge area, but few students actually live in our town. "Rush hour" traffic starts about 6:50 a.m.!!!

The town aldermen (i.e., city council) required more attractive design for the Sonic than what most people usually see. The stonework blends in with stonework with some of the old buildings in the central business area.
