The doctor treating the guy that VP Cheney accidently shot,is on the news right now, the guy went into AFIB and had a cath, the Afib seems to be from "bird shot" that is in the heart,
it's funny my first thought was all the talk about AFIB here, Lyn

I have a problem comprehending how a piece of buckshot could dislodge and travel to the heart. How could it get into the bloodstream?
Or did he breathe a piece?

After listening to the hospital spokesperson and doctor, I understand how news of a heart attack or a -fib could both be reported.

I'm surprised they're going to leave the buckshot, but I guess that's why I'm not the cardiologist!;) ;)

Hi All,

My understanding is that he was hit with bird shot (very small compared to buck shot). I know of two guys that have bird shot in them. The size and location did not warrant the invasive steps to remove them.

This poor fellow would have had to be pretty close for the shot penetrate
his chest. Bird shot has a lighter powder load that most shot shells.

My understand was he had AFib, so they took him to the cath lab and that is how they found the bee bee in his heart muscle, they said it wasn't a traditional heartattack, but an asymptomatic one where the heart tissue was damaged by trauma, (the bird shot), Lyn

I believe there were the little bee bee of birdshot in his face, neck chest ect, this one was probably right near his heart or in it and it didn't show up until the inflamation started,

Your post is certainly correct. I read somewhere where Chaney shot a 28 gauge. Man, if that's true the lawyer is really lucky Cheney didn't sport a 10 gauge..:eek:

My question would be why the County Sheriff didn't question Cheney? Why did a Deputy Sheriff question the Vice President of the United States?
