View Full Version : Chloe's hospital visit!

Well, I knew it would happen. This fluey bug of Chloes has affected her INR and coaguchek showed 6.7 earlier. She didnt eat and barely drunk yesterday so I knew INR would go off, although she is eating again today.
I was in 2 minds about whether or not to ring hospital or just watch her myself but I decided better to be safe so we phoned and we had to actually get dressed (not happened here for 2 days!) and she had to go in for a venus check. They've let us come home while they get the result - which going on previous experience could be some hours! lol
Fingers crossed its not too high on venus and they don't want her in for observation. I'm hoping I'll be able to convince them to leave her at home for me to watch carefully as we're all streaming and coughing still and a hot hospital will not do any of us any good.

Just phoned and venus came back and it's 6.1 so coaguchek was accurate, YAY! Venus ones with her have always come back about 0.5 lower than coaguchek so thats in line with how its always been. Was quite firm with Southampton Registrar who felt she should be in with it. I disagreed as none of us are well and its not dramatically high. He went off and spoke to consultant who agreed its not necessary and to check again with coaguchek tomorrow.
PHEW!

Interesting that your Coaguchek has the same difference than the INRatio. I was thinking it was just the INRatio that was "off".
Anyway, happy to hear the news. Sounds like a good day for lots of healthy greens, assuming Chloe likes those and is actually interested in eating.;) ;)

Aah you poor things, I don't know where this bug has come from but it's spreading over the country like wildfire! I have managed to avoid it so far, but a friend at work was off for 3 weeks (in bed for over a week) and her sister-in-law had it almost as bad. Yucky!
Hope Chloe's INR gets back to normal soon - did Ross ever get that "Coolest Mom" award to you?;)

Thankyou for your support everyone!
Did INR again today on docs instructions although did try and tell them it would show no difference that quickly! Was proved right! HA! Only gone down to 6.3 on coaguchek. Her change in dosage isnt going to show a difference on INR till tomorrow or next day I would have thought. Gave her 1mg last night and 1mg tonight and will test again tomorrow and see where we are then. She normally takes 3mg per day, so does this change sound about right to the rest of you???

I just now read this. I am sooooooooooo glad that you talked some sense into those docs and evaded the hospital scene. Hope Chloe's INR is in range soon. The dose reduction sounds very reasonable to me..........I'm sure your doc would have told you to hold a dose or two, but I seriously don't think they have registered how quickly our kids' INRs can drop due to a "no dose." And remember, this is just my two cents. My two cents and a rat's rear end will get you just that...........two cents and a rat's rear end. :D Much love and hugs and prayers for you all. J.

Thanks Janet - good to hear from you again on here!!! We've missed you!
Well, my INR dosing worked! YAY!
She had 1mg sunday night after the whole high INR/argue with the doctors debarcle, then 1mg Monday night, I gave her 2mg last night and she just tested at 4.3 on coaguchek today so we're back within range!
I'm going to go back to her normal dose of 3mg tonight and retest again in 2 days as I feel it may drop slightly lower than this yet. Still, that only took 3 days to come back in range and that was without missing a whole dose on any day so thats not bad.
Thanks for all the advice and support!
