Well my honey made it home on Monday. He had his bicuspid aortic valve replaced with an On-x on Jan. 17th and is doing quite well. It was a little crazy at the hospital for a few days trying to get the bodily functions working again and trying to figure out pain management without being in too much of a deep fog.

The kids are so happy to have daddy and mommy back home. They are gentle with him as you said they would be and we are keeping our fingers crossed that his recovery process continues to go forward without any bumps in the road.

Thank you for all of your help when I was so worried trying to figure things out prior to the surgery. This is such a special place for people to get support for what can be a very difficult time.

Thanks,

a worried honey, not so much;)

So glad he is home and wishing you an uneventful and complete recovery. Each day will get better and he soon will be able to hold and hug the kids.:)

Congrats to you and your honey. Just keep reminding yourselves that recovery is not linear - more like fits and starts. A good day, then a not-so-good day. Eventually, however, the good days outweigh the bad 'uns and it's not so frustrating anymore.

Be sure he uses his spirometer often (the more the better), walks and naps. And takes his pain meds.

Great news...we like to hear our patients have made it back home to their own beds and families...I am sure it helps with recovery to be at home with some resemblence to normal life.

Bet the kids are thrilled to have daddy back home too
