On Monday I went to see my GP as I have had mild discomfort in the area of my heart, exactly like I had for several months last year prior to the diagnosis of endocarditis. He took lots of blood for tests, and did an ECG which was normal. I have an appointment for an echo on 6th February just to be on the safe side.
This morning I spoke to him to get the results as I had an appointment with my cardiologist later in the morning. Apparently I have no signs of infection (good!) but my thyroid is now underactive!
I don't know if this is related to the problems of the past year or whether it is something new. I was on amiodarone for a few months, I know that can affect thyroid function but do not know if it is temporary or permanent. I am now on levothyroxine so hopefully I will lose the few extra pounds which I gained.
The good news is that my cadiologist doesn't want to see me for six months. Actually that is a pity as he is absolutely gorgeous!
