Tested hubby last night on my ProTime. He got a .9.
Wish my battery lasted on the durned thing!
Also, I nearly killed him while testing him. The first stick didn't go very far down (calloused fingers) and I had a hard time milking a drop of blood into the stupidly small lancette cup. I got an "air bubble" error. So he says (and this is why I nearly took his life.) "Let me do it, I'll do a better job."
Excuse me?????????? I've had the machine for 4 years. I test once a week, so I've done it at least 208 times - yet YOU will do a better job????????  I almost went and got my chef's knife to take off his finger in order to get blood!!!!!!!!!
Tested again - got the blood - hubby lived.

Karlynn:
I've thought of running a test on my husband ... but his fingers are SO calloused that they crack and even bleed in the winter. I'd probably have to use a meat cleaver to get a few drops of blood. :D Or maybe I should just wait until they crack and bleed ...
We're spending Saturday night in Dallas this weekend for my dad's 77th birthday, so I may take my machine and recruit a guinea pig from my family.
I took my machine to my PCP's office in December to run a test against their CoaguChek. I intended to do my own test, but the RN took over and did it. Felt odd having someone else run a test. Then she used the same vampire hole to get blood for the CoaguChek.

I guess you didn't follow my suggestion of getting his toe?

If you'd seen his toes you would not make such a suggestion. Maybe clean, but just freaky, and it's genetic because my daughter has the same toes.

When somebody at my clinic complains about the stick hurting, I always offer to do the next one on the end of their nose.
I did a toe once on a woman who had surgery on both hands.
For babies, I have done the heels.

Karlynn, You have an excellent "control". Your Protime is in good shape.
No need to go down and check with the hospital lab.
