Colonoscopy over with!

I had my colonoscopy today...bridged with Lovenox and took my last shot yesterday morning and will resume tomorrow. The big problem? Internal hemorrhoids that were probably bleeding more because of the coumadin! (Al, you were right as usual!) They also removed 6 polyps. Biopsies back next week, but surgeon doesn't seem concerned (according to hubby, I didn't get to talk to him).

I am wondering, however, why he wants me to continue on Lovenox for 10 days, and re-start coumadin on the 9th day. Seems unsafe to start coumadin that late before d/c lovenos, and it seems a long time to be on Lovenox.

Anyone had a similar experience?

I will call his office tomorrow and ask why.

I think that you should restart warfarin ASAP and overlap with the Lovenox until the INR gets back to your therapeutic range.

Thanks for your thoughts. I will call Doc tomorrow and not only ask why he wants this regimen, but tell him I would like to re-start the coumadin now!

Nan--glad to hear it's all, ahem, behind you :D I had 4 polyps removed and will go back in 2 years for another check.Yuck but better than the alternative (letting them become CA).
