Hi,

i'm 34. I have severe AR and soon need to pass AVR.
but i have also VWD type 1b (35% factor).
my doctor thinks i should take mech valve because my factor level isn't too low and i'm young. i'm not calm.
Do you know someone who had this dilemma?
what factors should i take into consideration when i finally choose the kind of valve (mech vs. bio)?

I have never come up against this problem before. But if anyplace can find someone similar, it is probably this website.

Avi,
I did a search on line and came up with this from Johns Hopkins:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=OMIM&dopt=Detailed&tmpl=dispomimTemplate&list_uids=193400
As I understand it, the VWD type 1 may be helped by AVR replacement.
Hope this helps.
Phyllis
