A little word of hope for those that are active prior to AVR.

Dec. 11th was the 4 month anniversery of my AVR. On that day, a friend and I XC skied approximately 10 miles. No problems during or afterward. It's a nice break from running, especially when the roads are icy and from the indoor bike trainer.
For those with AVR approaching, try to be as healthy as possible going into surgery and then have some goals to motivate you afterward. AVR is not the end of being active - which was one of biggest concerns pre-surgery.

Congrats, Bob- looking forward to hearing what you do on the 4 year anniversary! Dick agrees- he was in good shape going in and at 2 years, he is back to all his sports and more.

Good news, Bob!!!! I agree with all of the above, I also was in pretty good shape when I had my AVR in July. And I am now starting to do step aeorbics again and I must say am proud of myself! Now if I could just shed that darn extra 10 pounds! Rose

AVR is another start not an end.
If your car had a rebuilt engine you wouldn't leave it in the garage.
