I had an arthroscopy last year for a "bucket handle" tear in my cartilage. What is normally an overnight procedure for most folks, turned out to be seven or eight days:(
The length of time is to:
a) let the INR come down a bit
b) bridge with heparin for the procedure
c) get INR level back to normal
This is despite me self-testing. They wouldn't let me manage my own INR post-op.

Hello Toronto Guy,
Have you contacted TGH where you had your heart surgery?
They will know if "bridging" is required and are able tell you how it's done.

Get the cardiologist involved.
