I had 2 8 hour open hearts in Sept, but they left a little hole in my septum, so I have to go back in Nov. 17th to close the hole. Hope there is enough scar tissue to sew it up. I haven't been able to do much since my last surgeries, its hard. I can't get back to work, and if I do too much one day, I pay for the next couple of days. I mostly feel ok sitting down, walking is a chore, and I used to walk a lot. I want my life back, and hope I will get it with the new surgery. I hope there are no complications this time. I wouldn't be alive if I hadn't had my very calcified aortic valve replaced (its doing great) but I do seem to generate complications. wish me an easy effective surgery this time, I don't want another one for about 20 years. Wishing you the best and I hope this will be the start of a long and healthy spell for you where you get to enjoy all the things you love to do once more.

Gosh-

That's hard to face, I'm sure. But if that's all left to be done, you should have your life back and then some.

I'm just so sorry you have this in the near future, but it will soon be behind you.

My husband's been through three valve surgeries. His third one was the easiest recovery. He had it done with the HeartPort method through his side.

Wishing you all the best.

Queness,
Gee, this might be some type of record around here. I'm sure it's a distinction you would gladly forego.
I hope this last surgery puts an end to your heart complications. The 17th is my wedding anniversary and our son's birthday, so I think it's an opportune day.:)
I will be thinking of you.

I am wishing you well for the 17 Nov and hopefully this will be your last surgery and you will be able to enjoy the benefits that the surgery should provide for many years.

Queness,

As they say, 3rd time's a charm! Will be thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers. Sure hope this is the end of the surgeries - you've been through enough!

You will be in my thoughts on the 17th. Maybe then you can put this past you finally, and walk into the rest of your life.

Best wishes.

My wife and I had read your earlier posts after your surgery and complications and were wondering how you were doing and what would be planned next to get you all fixed up. We send you best wishes and prayers for a really smooth recovery this time around and hope that this time you'll be all set! We'll be thinking of you!

the surgeon had to leave a hole at the top as "sewing cardiac muscle is like sewing donuts" He had put one patch on which had come off 3 days later, and we had to wait for enough scar tissue to do the repair. It worked. I'm already home and doing better, except for some chest pain (lol) than I have in the last year or so. yes, I am taking it easy, walking my 5 min three times a day and doing the loverly spirometer, better than I have been able to do it since a month before all the surgery. there were 11 people waiting while I had surgery this time, and because most of them are members of my family, they were apparently pretty rowdy, playing games and generally having more fun than I did. They were sent to their own room:p I didn't really know how badly I was doing/feeling until I was suddenly much much better. Thanks everyone for all you prayers, energy and good wishes.

Wow, that's great news! You've been through so much but now you can look forward to having the energy to live a full life. But as you recover, let some of that rowdy bunch :p wait on you. Before long, you'll be back to doing not just the mandatory walking but the long walks you love.

And aren't those spirometers just ducky? :p

So nice to hear you finally have your issues behind you. Sounds like good health is finally on its way for you. Some of us just have to struggle a bit harder to get there.

I do feel great, but was pretty anemic, my crit was 21 before they gave me two units of blood, and I am recovering, so still get tired. I am taking easy, have to. I am making sure I get those 5 minutes of walking in at least three times a day and doing that spirometer every hour or two. I am pleased that while the whole time between surgeries I could never get above 1000, barely, I went from 250 to 750 the day after surgery, to 1000 the next day or so, and I'm up to 1250 now. :D I am very pleased with how I am doing.
