My wife is going to require repair of an ascending aortic aneurism with valve replacement. She is 44-years-old and we are researching valve choices. Please post information about experience with On-X Valve and aortic repair, including surgeons, preferably in Southern California. Can Bentall procedure be done with On-X Valves? Thank you!!!

If her valve is otherwise normal, I would suggest that you investigate a valve sparing procedure for her, allowing her to keep her own aortic valve. Cedars Sinai Hospital performs this surgery, among others.

The Bentall procedure replaces the valve and ascending Aorta. Usually the surgeon uses a valve with the aortic graft preattached by the manufacturer. On-X valves are not available from the manufacturer with a Dacron graft attached for replacement of the ascending Aorta. On-X are available as a valve only. I am not sure if the surgeon can attach the Dacron graft to the On-X valve.

Hi Topanga folks! Welcome and sorry you need to be here. I moved away from Camarillo almost 4 years ago. People on this website highly recommend two or three surgeons at Cedars Sinai, Dr. Raissi among them. I have spoken with him and found him to be thorough, caring, knowledgable and genuine.

Please consider Dr. Raissi at Cedars-Sinai in LA. Our member Arlyss works with him. You can PM or email her.
He just did my mom's AVR with a bovine valve. We were extremely pleased with him, Arlys, and the team at Cedars-Sinai. I have an email address for Arlys if you'd like it, send me a PM and I will give it to you. Or you can find her at bicuspidfoundation.com She also answers all the email on Cedars-Sinai aortic surgery website. Good luck!!!
