Hi,
My dad had an aorta valve replacement almost a month a go.
Before operation he had high blood pressure.
After operation he had low blood pressure.
Now, his blood pressure is low (100) but heart pulse is high around 82. [edited not 150]
Any experience with the low BP and high pulse?
Thanks

It takes a while after surgery for the heart rate to come down. If it's 150 resting, he needs to call his doctor, as well as if it jumps up to 150 immediately. That was my issue and I've been on metoprolol since my surgery (going on 14 years ago) to keep my HR lower.
I'm not an "aorta person", but my guess is that his BP is lower do to his new valve.

I haven't had a chance to talk to my doctor about it yet, but my Blood pressure has dropped to normal since my OHS. I was on several different meds for the high blood pressure before the surgery. Of course I was also a smoker which I am not now. My resting heart rate tho is around 60. never had any problems with that one.

A high Resting Heart Rate (80 to 100) is quite common for several weeks following Heart Surgery. If his resting heart rate is over 100 or if it rapidly jumps above 120 with very little exertion, he needs to tell his Doctor. There are several medications which can help return his resting heart rate to a lower range.

Thank you all.
Sorry, I made a mistake in heart rate. The heart rate was not 150.
Blood pressure changes even with little walk.
For example, my dad's blood pressuer is 105/56 laying on bed then he walked outside came back already 148/86.
Is his new valve functioning OK?

Mine bp was similar to your dad's. I probably wouldn't be too concerned at this stage in his recovery. Is he able to do any monitored cardiac rehab? If it's available to him I would highly recommend it. It would give him an opportunity to build up strength under careful monitoring. And the rehab staff can give wonderful advice and reassurance. One question regarding his high bp after walking...how long after his walk are you waiting before taking it? Make sure you give him time to rest!
I noticed during rehab that my bp would jump while I was exercising and then return to "normal" about 10-15 minutes after finishing.
Also, regarding his heart rate... 82 sounds quite acceptable for a month after surgery.
All this aside, if you or your dad have concerns, please call his doctor & find out what you should be expecting at this point in time.
Hope his recovery is going well.

I have the same problem. I am 1 month out from a Mitral Valve Replacement. After I got home and started taking my blood pressure I found the BP was fine but my pulse was between 107 and 117!!
My regular doctor put me on a very light dose of a beta blocker and it has taken my pule down between 82 and 85 which is better. I see my regular doctor, the surgeon, and the Cardiologist nesk week between all of them I should find out something.
