Hi Lanky Lad! There certainly are quite a few others from the UK--some from Lancashire, even! I'm sure they'll be along before too long. Welcome aboard!

Hi.
If you read the Where in the World are VR members thread in Small Talk, you will find some of the members who are in England. If you put your cursor on the numbers listed in each category, the names will be displayed. Billy and Valve Viking aren't English members, but the rest are. Don't forget to vote yourself to add your name to the list. That way, others can also locate you. :)

Hi Lanky Lad,
I live in Lancashire (Newchurch In Pendle). I have not had my valve replaced yet but visit Wythenshaw Hospital on a regular basis. Where did you have your surgery? How are you doing? I hope you are recovering well.
All the best

First off..thank you all for your support...Im typing this with tears in my eyes.....snifff...I had the op done at Manchester Royal Infirmary by Mr.Keenan and at now 8 days (I think...lol)..I still wake in the morning and the reality hits me like a brick...I'm getting there very slowly and frustrating it is but all the support from my family and my new found family on here will make every day that bit more bearable......thank you again.....:)

Hang in there, Lanky. This is such a difficult time - you feel pretty helpless (and at 8 days post-op you ARE pretty helpless). I don't know what I'd have done without the internet; it would have been so boring without finding this wonderful site.
Observe the only requirements you have right now - BREATHE BREATHE BREATHE, WALK WALK WALK, NAP NAP NAP. And continue to visit and ask any questions that might present themselves.

Hi Lanky,
Keep looking and posting on this site. There are many people with lots of experience with recovery after valve surgery.

Hi Lanky, and welcome!
We're in the UK - Chester to be precise - my boyfriend Jim had his aortic valve replaced in December 2003 at the CardioThoracic Centre in Liverpool.
Glad you found us - we're all one big extended family with a world of experience.
Gemma.

Hi Lanky!
Welcome! I just became a new member a few days ago and I'm thrilled to be part of such a caring and supportive group of people. I was born and raised in Birmingham and moved to California when i was 20! (I'm now 35). I love it here in the U.S and this is my new home but I do like to go back to my homeland and try to get back at least once a year. I've been told by my fellow Brummie's that I'm losing my accent, but people here tell me otherwise! It's going i can tell, but the minute i speak to someone from home it comes right back!!! Well, I hope you are continuing to feel better every day ... keep us posted and god bless.
Angie
