I am about 3 months post AVR and am doing great. INR within range and was told at my 3 month cardio visit that I could come back in a year! I feel great! The only time I am reminded (other than the scar) is when I sneeze; still a little tender.

My main question involves tingling in my left hand. I first noticed it about1 week post AVR and now it just happends every so often. It will start tingling (feels like it has "fallen asleep") in the pinky finger of my left hand. Then as my pinky "wakes up" the next finger in line starts the same thing until it has moved through all my fingers and ends in my hand/palm. Am I weird or what. I asked my cardio about it at my first post op ACR visit and he did not act concerned at all.

Also I have noticed that lots of my body parts fall asleep more often than they ever used to. Like my hand when I am talking on my cell phone or blow drying my hair. Or my foot when I am sitting on the floow and my knee is bent.

Used to the only time something on me "fell asleep" was when I was laying on it or it was being constricted somehow.

Anyone have any insights on this? Let me know. My mother (61yrs old) does not have very good circulation.

Thanks - BECCA

(As an aside, I HAVE to tell you that after I hit, "reply to thread," my front doorbell rang. I got up to answer it and welcomed two boys who are friends of my son into my house. Both (well-trained) boys immediately slipped their shoes off and one said, "Oooh, my foot fell asleep!") Too weird.

Anyway, I was going to ask if perhaps you are on a blood pressure lowering drug that is different from pre-op? I have noticed since I have been on a beta blocker and my BP is lower, extremities tend to fall asleep more easily--crossing my ankles with extended legs, for instance, can cause it to happen when pre-medication I would have to sit completely cross-legged for a long while.

I take lexapro every day, which I took before surgery. And I take warfarin. That's all.
