Hi Everyone,

Almost 7 weeks post op, just wondering if any one is on blood pressure lowering medication and taking aspirin? The only other perscription med I am taking is warfarin.

I have been so tired, my blood pressure taken at cardio rehab was 80/50, wondering if this could be one of the reasons I feel so tired, I do not experience any dizziness, but I seem to be tired all the time.

I take 81mg St. Joseph Aspirin daily, I thought it unusual for the aspirin and the warfarin, never took the aspirin before, just wondering if anyone else is taking aspirin.

Thanks
Michaelena

I'm not on warfarin, but do take atenolol and aspirin daily, as do many here. There shouldn't be a relationship between that and fatigue.

Check your BP medicine for side effects, if it's one you didn't have before. Also check for anemia. Have you been back to your cardio lately?

Best wishes,

I take aspirin and warfarin, also toprol, mavik, digoxin, lasix, niaspan, lipitor.

Cardio told me aspirin and warfarin is common - aspirin acts differently from warfarin to combat clotting.

At 7 weeks out it's certainly not unusual to be tired, especially if you're working hard at rehab. I'm sure if the people at rehab thought there was an issue with your bp they'd contact your surgeon or cardiologist.

But it sure can't hurt to call.

Hi, I am 7 weeks post op AVR and am also having problems with low blood pressure, I take 81 mg aspirin daily. As a matter of fact, when I went to cardiac rehab yesterday the nurse had a hard time getting a blood pressure at all when I first got there. I had just had blood drawn on my way there as my blood levels are still low, she thinks that is the problem, it was ok after a few minutes. She told me not to worry (like I won't)!!!! I also have still been very tired but it is just part of this whole thing. Over all, I feel pretty good, but know that I still have a ways to go, we must be patient, which is not always an easy thing to do.. Rose

RECOVEry from MAJOR surgery takes a long time. I don't think you will be a-1 for awhile yet. Do keep check, tho, and call your dr's office if you are truly concerned. Last thing they told me was 'if you have ANY questions, be sure to call'. I did call about something and they were quick on the draw to take care of me.

I take bp med and aspirin, too, also atenolol, which lowers bp and slows down the heart (I didn't have valve replacement, tho).

Hi,

I take warfarin, aspirin and my BP is on the high side of normal. I don't see a connection with the drugs and your BP. I think you are just still recovering and your body isn't yet in sync.

But, as others have said, if you are worried call your doctor. That's what they get paid for. :D ;)

Thanks everyone for your reply. Maybe I am rushing the getting back to "normal," but I think I am a little more tired then what I should be? I will call the cardio's office tomorrow. Actually, I am not sure why I am suppose to take Monopril (Bp med), one of the symptoms is fatigue, another good reason for calling the cardio. My INR was up to 4.6, it is really difficult getting it within the range they want, 3.0-3.9.

Thanks for your input.
